#WIP Wednesday: How many squares did you say?

Let me get this on record right now, I am a serial starter.
When I become obsessed with an idea, I need to start (and possibly even finish) it right away, or else my attention will wander, I will move on to one of the thousand other ideas I have, and I will lose all interest. This is hard when you have a lot of really good project piled up, but hey, this is the life of a serial starter.

I have held off for quite a while with this project, hoping to finish all of the other things on my list and knowing it would take many nights/weeks/months/years to complete, but last night my will power caved. I couldn’t help myself.
I had to start this quilt.

Under the Stars Quilt Pieces

The picture doesn’t really do justice to the 900+ 1 1/2 inch squares that are on this cutting mat, but I assure you they are there.
Let me repeat:
I assure you there are more than 900 1 1/2 inch squares in those little 10 piles, and I will be sewing all them little guys into a quilt top.

I still have to cut the inner and outer border, find backing and binding fabrics, and you  know, actually start sewing it.
But there are many more #wipwednesday’s to come, so I can guarantee you will be seeing more of this guy soon.

However, this collection is amazing. Nocturne by Janet Clare for Moda is just absolutely stunning: super space-y with astrological designs, planets, moons, constellations, with some great neutrals as well. Ugh, I want to make everything out of this collection for the rest of my life. I am hoping to find bolts of it (eventually) so everything I own/wear will be Nocturne. Find the whole series of precuts at Dinkydoo Fabrics (just like I did!).

What are you working on today?
